York University Mathematics & Statistics Career Panel

Hi Everyone, we've been organizing an event with mathematics & statistics alumni and professors to give you a chance to hear from them on their career paths and what you can do with a math or stats degree! Come by if you are interested, I guarantee you will learn something!

Three students gave presentations on the Mathematics of Quantum Information Theory.

Math Olympiad



We had organized a Math Olympiad on the first day of reading week, it was Monday, February 21, 2022, from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Participating in the Math Olympiad provided students with a valuable experience. Math Olympiad helped students to enhance their arithmetic and logical skills and at the same time, it gave them a sense of competition.


Book club

We had organized club infinity's first ever book club. Our aim was to read technical / non-technical books / papers together and have weekly discussions.

In future iterations, we will pick books based on community suggestions but for this semester we had read 'Gödel, Escher, Bach'.

Thursday, October 7, 2021, 4pm.

Professor Ada Chan had kindly invited students to attend Dr. Aruliah's talk on Mathematical lessons from industry and academia, which York University hosted in October!


Oct 1st, Friday, 6:30 pm.

Hosted a movie night on Oct 1st, Friday, 6:30 pm. Possible choices were "Knife out", "the grand tour lockdown", “Mr and Mrs Smith" and some others. This was a great opportunity to meet new people and make friends!


Thursday, September 23rd

We had the first event of the academic year on Thursday, September 23rd at 6 PM. It was a social event to get to know our colleagues.

To facilitate a more interactive experience, the virtual platform was gather.town. Gather is a fun medium that allows you to customize your character to the max! You can create an avatar and hang out in the comfort of your own domicile.
